Eyelid Lift Procedure

Eyelid surgery is generally performed with twilight anesthesia or local alone. The surgery involves removal of skin, fat and muscle in the appropriated proportions. The upper eyelid incision is concealed in the upper lid creases. The lower eyelid incision is either inside the lower eyelid or just below the lash line. Dr. Falk will determine which approach is most appropriate based on your set of circumstances. The incisions are closed with fine sutures.

Recovery

After surgery, patients are instructed on how to keep their incisions clean and use eye drops to prevent dryness. A certain degree of swelling and bruising is normal. Cold compresses and head elevation, enhance healing and relive discomfort. Permanent sutures are removed in five days. The swelling resolves quickly, and most patients are able to be in public at one week.
