Video of Dr. Falk's interview speaking about the Fraxel procedure.
Fractional resurfacing is the newest from of laser resurfacing that is specifically geared to individuals who want a dramatic improvement in there skin surface texture without the downtime of a conventional ablative laser procedure. The treatment showers the skin with tiny microbeams of laser energy that create pinpoint areas of skin renewal. Only a portion of the skin is actually treated with each session, hence the term fractional. A complete treatment consists of 4 individual sessions.

Before/After
Post treatment, a patient demonstrates mild redness and swelling for about 3 days. The results can mimic carbon dioxide laser resurfacing without the associated long recovery. It also enables treatment of conditions like melasma and acne scarring.
The first fractional resurfacing laser on the market was Fraxel™ by Radiant Technology. Now there are several fractional laser devices available, but Fraxel™ remains the industry standard. We use the Fraxel™ Re-store which is an erbium laser based system. There is minimal down-time with this treatment, and it works great for fine lines and wrinkles, photoaging, melasma, stretchmarks and scars, including acne scars. It does not cause as much skin tightening as can be achieved with other wavelength systems. For this reason, there is now are several carbon dioxide based fractional systems on the market. The one by Reliant is called the Fraxel™ Re-pair. We are actively exploring which carbon dioxide based fractional laser system makes the most sense for our practice.
