Non-surgical skin tightening is the “Holy Grail” of non-invasive techniques. The theory is to create highly controlled, gradual deep heating of the skin (reticular dermis and hypodermis) so that there is collagen contraction (shrinkage) and subsequent skin tightening. It is not the equivalent of a facelift, as it only targets skin laxity not connective tissue, muscles or fat. Expectations must be realistic, and candidate selection is critical to successful outcomes. There are several devices that try to achieve this result using a variety of energy sources including lasers, IPLs and radiofrequency. Dr. Falk favors the IR handpiece by Palomar, which uses intense pulse light technology. It is the appropriate mid-infrared wavelength, and has several built in safety features to achieve maximum effectiveness while minimizing the risk of injury. A complete treatment consists of a series of four sessions at 3- 4 weeks apart, and the final results are best appreciated at around 3-6 months post treatment.

Radiofrequency Skin Tightening

Radiofrequency Skin Tightening is one of the latest nonablative procedures for maintaining a youthful appearance. It is not a laser. It is a Patented Radio Frequency System. The advanced Cool-Gel incorporates a cryo-gel to cool the skin's outer surface while the RF energy slightly heats and modifies the soft tissues beneath the skin.
